Paul Berry

Physiotherapy

Paul graduated with a BSc Sports Science degree in 2002 and completed a Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of East Anglia in 2008. He joined the Gilmour Piper team in 2009 and combines his work at the practice with his unique role in the NHS.

He’s one of a small number of physiotherapists within Suffolk who’s achieved a position as both an ‘extended scope’ practitioner (working beyond the physiotherapist’s normal scope) and advanced clinical specialist. For example, this may involve requesting investigations such as MRI scans, X-rays, blood tests and ultrasound tests and using the results to assist clinical diagnosis and management/treatment options.

His NHS work means that Paul’s built strong relationships with GPs and Consultants in the local area. He believes this is invaluable when dealing with patients with more complex conditions who need input from different healthcare teams.

He specialises in administering pain-relieving soft tissue and joint injections. Furthermore, his work as a clinical specialist involves a teaching and educational role for physiotherapists within the NHS setting.

Paul’s vast experience and clinical expertise allows him to diagnose and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in adults and children. He’s highly competent in the use of manual therapy, acupuncture, shock wave therapy, taping, strength and conditioning and exercise prescription.

Away from work, Paul’s a keen sportsperson. In the past, he played to a high standard of football; nowadays, he competes in triathlons and remains a keen swimmer and cyclist.
