Joanna Cook

Gynaecologist

Joanna is a consultant gynaecologist at Ipswich Hospital where she is the lead for acute gynaecology and early pregnancy. She has practiced as a doctor for over 20 years, and trained mostly in the fields of sexual and reproductive health and gynaecology. She provides individualised, evidence based care for women and girls with gynaecological complaints including menstrual disturbances and symptoms of the menopause, polycystic ovarian syndrome and recurrent or late pregnancy loss.

She qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 2003 and also holds a degree from University College London. She trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at the London tertiary centres of Guy’s & St. Thomas’, St. Mary’s Hospital and Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital.

Joanna completed an extended period of postgraduate research into the epigenetic changes of pregnancy at Imperial College London for which she was awarded a PhD. She has published multiple research papers and lectured in Italy, Sweden, Canada and the USA.

Joanna is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the British Menopause Society. She is able to see private patients for gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound scans.
